John Tortorella Freaks Out, Spikes Puck Following Delay of Game Call in Showdown With Bruins (Video)

John Tortorella is a pretty intense guy. On Sunday, during a game against the Bruins, the Rangers head coach channeled his inner Rob Gronkowski and unleashed an emphatic spike on the bench.

Tortorella's Rangers were assessed a delay of game penalty in the third period after the puck was cleared out of play by New York. The puck landed in the Rangers' bench area, which typically wouldn't result in a penalty. But because it went over the crowd before landing on the bench, it therefore warranted the two-minute call.

That didn't mean Tortorella was satisfied with the referee's explanation, though, as he was visibly upset that his team was being forced to play down a man while clinging to a 4-3 lead with just over six minutes left in the game.

The Rangers eventually held off the Bruins for the victory, so Tortorella probably isn't too concerned with the call any more, but he may have popped a few blood vessels during his theatrics. At the very least, his blood pressure skyrocketed momentarily.

Either way, nice spike, John.
