Marty Turco Standing By His Bright New Yellow Pads, Plans to Debut New Bruins Mask SoonWILMINGTON, Mass. – Marty Turco was signed by the Bruins on March 5, but he didn't really make his entrance until 20 days later.

It was on March 25 in Anaheim that Turco earned his first win for Boston. His 25-save effort in a 3-2 victory was impressive, but what really made a statement was the debut of his new, blindingly-bright yellow pads.

Turco was surprised by how much attention the pads have gotten, but he stands by his aesthetic choice.

"I got some comments," Turco said after participating in an optional practice Wednesday at Ristuccia Arena. "You expect that when you look at them, but when I decided on the color, no I didn't expect [such a reaction]. I wore gold for the last whatever years, but a far cry from these ones. The gold was shinier, but these are a little brighter. I think they look good."

More importantly, the pads worked well, with Turco raving about the performance of his new equipment.

"At the end of the day that's all that matters," Turco said. "These are the best pair of pads I think I've ever had. That's a good thing. They're keepers."

Turco knows his time with the Bruins is limited. He is not eligible to play in the playoffs because he signed after the trade deadline, and just six games remain in the regular season. But that hasn't stopped him from wanting to commemorate his brief stint here, and he'll soon have a new Bruins-theme mask to go along with the pads.

"I have another one coming," Turco said. "That's just more for my collection than anything, but it should be here any day. Whether I get a game in and play with it or not, I don’t know. But it's a feather in my cap to be a Boston Bruin even for just a little bit. It's a pretty special deal and I don’t take those things lightly."

After the attention his pads attracted, the bar will be pretty high for what Turco will unveil for a new mask. So what does he have planned?

"It's pretty standard, what I've always had, but with a personal touch and a Boston Bruins flair," Turco said. "It looks good, I've seen pictures."

That's as much as Turco is willing to reveal. When asked for more details about the artwork on the new mask, Turco replied, "Nothing I'd like to divulge at this time."

Turco may have a tough time topping the buzz created by his pads, but at least he is showing a knack for creating some suspense.
