Teenager Matt Brown to Drop Puck for Bruins-Islanders Game, Just Two Years After Paralyzing Injury

It was only two years ago that Matt Brown was a spry tennager with an unwavering love for hockey. An unfortunate accident has kept him from the sport, but on Saturday Brown will return to the ice to take part in a Boston Bruins game.

On Jan. 23, 2010, Brown, then 15 years old, suffered a spinal cord injury during a high school hockey game that left him paralyzed. But Brown has overcome the adversity of his condition and continues to impress with all his accomplishments.

This Spring, Brown is set to take part in the Boston Marathon, with long-time friend Luke Carr pushing his wheelchair the 26.2 miles and on Saturday, the 17-year-old teen from Norwood, Mass. will drop the puck at the start of the Bruins game against the New York Islanders.

The moment will be a special one for the teenage hockey lover, as he gets to join some of his favorite Bruins' players out on the ice and kickoff the game with his honorary puck drop.

Brown will be assisted out on the ice by Executive Director of the Bruins Foundation, Bob Sweeney, Vice President of Business Development for Journey Forward, Dan Cummings, and his father, Mike Brown.
