The Broncos are reportedly looking to trade quarterback Tim Tebow, and they have at least one offer on the table already. That offer, however, comes from a minor league baseball team.

The Lake Elsinore Storm, a Single-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, is looking to acquire the southpaw signal-caller, according to a “press release” on the ballclub’s website.

The Storm may not be able to offer NFL draft picks to John Elway and Co., but they are willing to offer a pair of mascots. Rally Cop and the Grounds Crew Gorilla are on the trading block, the Storm announced.

“We know that Tim was the cause for late-game comebacks in Denver and we have our own leader of rallies, the Rally Cop. We would like to offer the Broncos the Rally Cop as well as the Grounds Crew Gorilla, winner of an MiLB Golden Bobble head last season, in exchange for Tebow,” Storm vice president and general manager Chris Jones said in the announcement.

Lake Elsinore is also willing to rename its stadium to Elway Stadium if the Broncos deal Tebow to the Storm.

“We’re not sure about Tim’s baseball past, but we are sure he could bring some of that Tebow magic to Lake Elsinore and would be a great addition to our ballclub,” Jones said.

Tebow actually has some recent experience with the national pastime. The former Florida quarterback supposedly dropped by a high school in Memphis following the 2010 draft to work out. While there, Tebow took his turn in the batting cage as well, supposedly blasting 12 of the 15 pitches he saw for home runs.

That type of power is a rarity for minor league players, especially at the Single-A level, so maybe the Storm is onto something. If and when this trade falls apart, however, how will Rally Cop and Grounds Crew Gorilla be able to return to Lake Elsinore after being specifically named in trade talks like these?
