A couple more No. 1 seeds were in trouble on Friday night, as both North Carolina and Kentucky held off upsets en route to a berth for each in the Elite Eight.

The Tar Heels had the most trouble in the Sweet 16, as Ohio's speed and feisty defense gave the Kendall Marshall-less Heels without a true point guard to run the offense. UNC needed overtime, but the interior work of John Henson and Tyler Zeller ended up being the difference as the Heels downed the Bobcats 73-65, in the extra frame.

Kentucky, on the other hand, saw quite the scare from the Hoosiers. But an energetic John Calipari and the Wildcats were able to pull away late and fend off a repeat loss to Indiana.

Baylor held off a scrappy Xavier team to advance. And Kansas put on a strong showing in the second half to stave off a late run by North Carolina State.
