Rangers Favored to Win Eastern Conference at 5-1 Odds With Bruins, Penguins Hot on Tail at 8-1 Odds

A win, is a win, is a win.

That?s all that mattered on Saturday afternoon as the Boston Bruins ended their longest losing streak in over two calendar years and upended the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2. They followed up that win with an absolute slaughtering of the Maple Leafs on Monday night.

The wins were crucial because the Bruins had tumbled down the standings in the Eastern Conference, falling from second to seventh because of their struggles and the Ottawa Senators consistent play. That all changed in just a few days’ span, as the B’s are back in second place as of Tuesday afternoon.

Just three points separates Ottawa and Boston, and that means this race will likely come down to the wire.

That final stretch includes a West Coast journey. A three-game road trip will take them through San Jose on Thursday, Los Angeles on Saturday and Anaheim on Sunday. While the beginning off the week is quite light, playing three games in four nights — especially on the road — is never easy. Sunday presents a very winnable game in Anaheim as the Ducks are slumping badly but the Bruins will have to find a way to stay fresh even in a back-to-back situation.

Heading into the last few weeks of the regular season, the odds-on favorites to win the 2012 NHL Eastern Conference, according to Bovada, is below.

New York Rangers: 5/1
Boston Bruins: 8/1
Pittsburgh Penguins: 8/1
