The game saw three ejections for Real Madrid: Head coach Jose Mourinho, defender Sergio Ramos and playmaker Mesut Ozil. Of the three, the only really questionable one was that of Ozil, who seems to have gotten a red card for clapping.
Regardless, Mourinho and his band of catty girls have decided to impose the silent treatment on the world.
No players or coaches made any comments after the game, and the team has now announced (wait, is that allowed?) that it will not hold a press conference prior to Saturday’s game against Real Sociedad.
Real Madrid will also not allow any media to watch its practice, when usually it allows the press to watch the last fifteen minutes.
La Liga does not mandate that coaches or players talk to the media. It’s simply routine. There is no possibility of penalties for not talking to the media.
Real Madrid, however, is acting like a typical teenager. It’s happy to grant every interview when it is ahead, yet the second it hits a bump (mind you, it didn’t lose on Wednesday), the club slams the door in your face and tells you to get out of its room.
Fans and media will have to wait and see when the silent treatment will end. With two starters suspended for the next game, and a less than stellar result likely against Real Sociedad, could the team possibly extend the silence through the Champions League quarterfinal on March 27?
