Final 9th, Phillies 10-5: It was a rout from the start as Alfredo Aceves didn't have his best day. When speaking to him, he said he didn't even remember the last time he's been shelled in an outing.
In Jupiter, Felix Doubront took another step toward the rotation, tossing six innings and allowing just five hits and one run. He walked one and struck out two batters. Looks promising for him.
Bottom 8th, Phillies 10-5: The minor leaguers into play almost got JetBlue Park rocking again.
With the bases loaded, Shannon Wilkerson appeared to blast a pitch over the Green Monster. Turns out, it was a foul and the crowd let out a collective groan.
He then popped out to first base. But Peter Hissey added a two-run single to score two runs.
Mid 8th, Phillies 10-3: Padilla remains consistent and shows no ill effects from the hamstring.
If he accepts the bullpen role with no issue, Padilla could be pretty effective and bolster the group with his array of pitches. Oh yeah ,if he stays healthy too.
Bottom 7th, Phillies 10-3: Let's take a look at Alfredo Aceves' line for the day, shall we?
He tossed three innings, allowed 10 hits, nine runs, one walk and struck out three batters. Aceves also tossed a wild pitch and plunked a batter. He threw 58 pitches, 36 of them for strikes.
Vicente Padilla is now coming into the game for Andrew Bailey.
Mid 7th, Phillies 10-3: Andrew Bailey made his first of a back-to-back appearance that he is scheduled to make Sunday.
He induced a ground out, struck another batter out and caused another one to fly out.
Also, the other game in Jupiter is officially over. The Red Sox defeated the Marlins 4-1 and Pedro Ciriaco continued his sizzling play, going 2-for-3 to boost his average to .441.
Jose Iglesias, on the other hand, went 0-for-3 to bring his average down to .174.
End 6th, Phillies 10-3: Raul Valdes made quick work of Darnell McDonald and Kelly Shoppach to begin the inning, retiring McDonald on a fly out and Shoppach via a ground out. He was forced to work a bit more from there, though.
Mike Aviles kept the inning alive with a two-out single, and Nick Punto then followed up with a base hit of his own. With runners at first and second, Josh Kroeger delivered a base hit that scored Jonathan Hee — who pinch ran for Aviles — and gave Boston its third run of the game.
Jacoby Ellsbury then grounded out to end the inning.
Mid 6th, Phillies 10-2: Franklin Morales entered the game to pitch the sixth inning, marking his second appearance of the spring.
The lefty retired the Phillies in order, getting Scott Podsednik and Carlos Ruiz on ground outs and Pete Orr on a pop out.
End 5th, Phillies 10-2: Dustin Pedroia struck out looking to begin the inning, and Kevin Youkilis followed up with a single. Youkilis was then lifted for a pinch-runner in Kolbrin Vitek.
It didn't take long for Vitek to be wiped off the bases, though, as Adrian Gonzalez grounded into an inning-ending double play.
Mid 5th, Phillies 10-2: Bowden was at least able to step the bleed and tossed the Red Sox' first scoreless inning of the game.
But a run almost snuck in as a result of an error. When Mike Aviles fielded a ball, he tossed a bullet to Dustin Pedroia, who dropped it and missed the force out.
Bottom 4th, Phillies 10-2: For all the talk about Jose Iglesias starting at shortstop, Mike Aviles is doing his part with his hitting.
He clubbed a double to start off the inning but was stranded there. Nick Punto and Jacoby Ellsbury grounded out while Josh Kroeger struck out swinging.
The Sox have only mustered four hits off Hamels thus far.
Mid 4th, Phillies 10-2: Michael Bowden hasn't fared much better, allowing three hits and another run. Not the ideal day.
Bottom 3rd, Phillies 9-2: Kevin Youkilis struck out swinging and Adrian Gonzalez flew out.
BUT…Darnell McDonald hit a single to bring his average to .500 in spring training. Valentine has been very impressed with McDonald, calling him a "hitting machine."
Valentine also said "He's proven he belongs on this team. I like everything I see."
Mid 3rd, Phillies 9-2: Can it get any worse for Alfredo Aceves, right now? Well unfortunately for him, it just did.
He surrendered a solo shot to Carlos Ruiz to lead off the inning. Then Miguel Abreu belted a triple before Shane Victorino drove him in with a single.
That's the third time Victorino has been on base in three innings. Yes, three innings. Michael Bowden is already warming up in the bullpen.
Bottom 2nd, Phillies 6-2: The Red Sox have trimmed the deficit just a tad bit.
After Kelly Shoppach walked and Nick Punto singled, Kroeger moved things around and hit into a fielder's choice.
But it set up Jacoby Ellsbury for a chance to unload a two-run triple, scoring Shoppach and Kroeger.
Mid 2nd, Phillies 6-0: Where is the real Alfredo Aceves and what did you to him? He started the second by yielding back-to-back homers to Pete Orr and Freddy Galvis.
He also plunked Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence unloaded a double to score Victorino. Laynce Nix also hit a single to bring in Hunter Pence.
Yeah, not going well at all for Aceves in a key start.
Bottom 1st, Phillies 2-0: After retiring Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia to start the inning, Cole Hamels nearly got himself in trouble.
An error at second base allowed Kevin Youkilis to get on base while Hamels walked Adrian Gonzalez to have two men on.
Darnell McDonald ended the threat with a pop up.
Mid 1st, Phillies 2-0: This isn't the Alfredo Aceves that the Red Sox are used to seeing. He issued his first walk of the spring to leadoff hitter Shane Victorino.
He also tossed a wild pitch against Hunter Pence, that allowed Victorino to round the bases and score.
John Mayberry Jr. and Juan Pierre also pounded hits of Aceves, with Mayberry getting credit for the RBI. Not Aceves-like, indeed.

8 a.m. — The Red Sox will have their last split-squad outing of the spring.
In Fort Myers at 1:30 p.m., the Red Sox will take on the Phillies with Alfredo Aceves taking the hill. Across the state in Jupiter, Fla., the other half of the Red Sox lineup will face off against the Cardinals with Felix Doubront on the mound.
Franklin Morales will make his second scheduled appearance of the spring against the Phillies while Vicente Padilla, who has been axed out of the starting rotation conversation, will make a one inning outing in relief in his first game back since suffering a hamstring injury. Closer Andrew Bailey is also listed to pitch against Philadelphia.
