The Red Sox are doing a lot to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Fenway Park, but their "100 Acts of Kindness" campaign might be the best one of them all.
The latest recipient of the program is the Pine Street Inn, which helps a great deal of homeless men and women in New England. The Pine Street Inn will be host to a celebration for the nomination by hosting 25 members of the Fenway Ambassadors and various front office members of the Red Sox on Saturday March 31.
The members of the two groups will join the Pine Street Inn for a "Chop-a-Thon" event, and will help cut over 500 pounds of vegetables to be used to help prepare the over 2,000 meals that the charity uses to feed its patrons daily.
Going around to various non-profit organizations, the Red Sox are celebrating the companies that are helping to make a difference around New England. The Red Sox honor these organizations with donations, volunteer efforts and charity work.
The Red Sox will continue to honor different non-profits throughout 2012 until they reach 100 associations. The Pine Street Inn is the 18th group that they've honored.
The Pine Street Inn was founded in 1969 and is the largest provider of emergency shelter, job training, permanent supportive housing and street outreach for homeless men and women in New England. The Red Sox have been working with the Pine Street Inn since 2004 and have helped the non-profit with various charity events over the years.
The event will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Pine Street Inn, located at 444 Harrison Avenue in Boston.
