Report: John Kerry’s Team Wins Congressional Hockey Challenge Over Lobbyists 5-3

John Kerry, like many New Englanders, has an affinity for hockey. He had the shiner in January to prove it.

Kerry went out Sunday and showed that he's more than just a easy bruiser, though, leading lawmakers to a 5-3 win over lobbyists in the fourth Congressional Hockey Challenge, the Washington Post reports.

The game reportedly raised $150,000 for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and featured the 68-year-old Massachusetts center skating alongside young "staffers" whose hockey skills were curiously good.

"I got dragged into it this year," U.S. Reap. Erik Paulsen of Minnesota told the Post. "But Minnesota has such a proud hockey tradition, so I had to play."

You had to be "dragged into it," Mr. Paulsen? What part of "playing hockey and possibly delivering a clean hit to that congressman who shot down your bill last session" didn't sound like a bowl full of fun?
