The Patriots already have some pretty good depth at tight end with Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez providing them with a dynamic duo at the position. However, it looks like they're about to bolster their depth at that position.

Fells will sign a three-year contract worth $5.25 million when he arrives in Foxboro on Monday, according to a source. The deal is worth up to $7 million, including $2 million guaranteed.

The 28-year-old spent last season with the Denver Broncos after playing the first three years of his career with the St. Louis Rams. Fells has only 88 career receptions over four years, but he's known as a solid blocker who should help the Patriots most in that way.

The addition of Fells also likely means that the Patriots will be able to use Hernandez even more like a wide receiver now that they have two tight ends in Fells and Gronkowski who are more than capable as blocking tight ends.
