Roy Oswalt was one of the most prolific hurlers on the open market when the MLB offseason began. Now, five months later, the three-time All-Star is still without a new home.
The 34-year-old righty has reportedly drawn plenty of interest, including from the Red Sox, but he hasn't yet received a suitable offer.
Oswalt is now telling teams he'll play anywhere, though, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick. This news is a deviation from previous reports, which indicated that Oswalt was focused on pitching close to his Mississippi home.
Crasnick reports that Oswalt is eyeing a June return, which is when the pitcher's kids get out of school. It could also be a time when there's even more interset in the right-hander, as contending teams could be dealing with injuries or other unforeseen issues.
Oswalt is coming off an injury-plagued campaign with the Phillies in 2011 in which he went 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 23 starts. However, he's a proven starter, finishing in the top five for Cy Young voting on five separate occasions.
A 20-game winner twice in his career, Oswalt is 159-93 with a 3.21 ERA in 339 games (326 starts) over the course of 11 big-league seasons.
