He may not get too far, but Saints head coach Sean Payton is reportedly appealing the one-year suspension that Roger Goodell handed down as punishment for New Orleans' bounty program.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Payton will file the appeal and also ask for the commissioner's guidance on the ban's parameters.

The team and general manager Mickey Loomis have reportedly filed separate appeals, and Saints linebackers coach Joe Vitt will reportedly also appeal his six-game suspension.

ESPN's Rachel Nichols reports that if Payton appeals — which he's expected to do — the decision will come in "days, not weeks," and that any notion he could extend his working status through the draft in late April is inaccurate.
