Shawn Thornton, Bruins Players Go Bald, Raise $58,000 at Fifth Annual ‘Cuts for a Cause’ (Video)

Shawn Thornton and his Boston Bruins teammates grew out their hair and beards during the 2011 playoffs, as a show of solidarity during the team’s Stanley Cup finals run. On Wednesday, those same players were getting their haircut as a similar sign of solidarity and support.

Thornton and the Bruins had their heads shaved at the team’s fifth annual “Cuts for a Cause” fundraiser at Royale in Boston on Wednesday. The team raised over $58,000 for the charity at this year’s event, sending the grand five-year total well beyond the $200,000 mark.

All proceeds from the event go to benefit the children at Floating Hospital at Tufts Medical Center.

Check out the video above to see Thorty, Tyler Seguin and some of the other B’s players get their heads shaved for the cause.
