Tiger Woods is an interesting dude who’s had an interesting career and an even more interesting life.
Hank Haney, Woods’ former golf coach, chronicled some of Woods’ bizarre endeavors over the years in his new book, The Big Miss. One of Haney’s stranger stories involves an ex-Navy SEAL who Woods hired as a bodyguard.
Haney said that Woods befriended the ex-SEAL — who the golfer’s former caddie Steve Williams reportedly described as “weird” — and hired him as a bodyguard, according to Business Insider. The “weird” label likely stems from the man’s claims.
According to Haney, the bodyguard allegedly told Williams that Woods’ dead father, Earl, was “speaking to him on a regular basis and giving him instructions on how to help Tiger.”
Well then. That Nike commercial in which it appears that Woods’ father is speaking to him in the wake of the golfer’s fallout is creepy, but we all know that’s fake. This guy just sounds like a real creep show, which Williams apparently realized.
But there’s more. Haney’s book provides some other strange anecdotes.
According to Business Insider’s account of the book, Haney discusses when Woods considered becoming a SEAL himself. Haney said that Woods went on six SEAL excursions in 2007, and even returned with an enormous bruise on his thigh after getting shot with a rubber bullet.
In addition to be able to take a shot, Woods can allegedly hold his breath for four minutes using a “lung packing” technique and can utilize a deadly choke hold.
Still, none of that holds a candle to the wacko bodyguard allegedly communicating with the deceased.
