Vote: Who Should Be the 25th Man for the Red Sox?Forget the battle for a spot in the starting rotation — there’s plenty of competition for who will make the Red Sox roster out of spring training this year.

The time is fast approaching when the Boston squad will be trimmed of prospects and minor leaguers, the young hopefuls going from brushing shoulders with the likes of Dustin Pedroia, Josh Beckett and David Ortiz to taking their practice swings in anonymity.

Three players still have a chance at grabbing one of the final spots on the roster, though — Pedro Ciriaco, Jason Repko and Nate Spears.

Ciriaco, a 26-year-old infielder, played in the Arizona and Pittsburgh organizations before signing a minor league deal with Boston this winter.

Repko, 32, signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox this offseason as an outfielder after a season in Minnesota that followed four years with the Dodgers.

Spears has been in the Red Sox’ system for a few years and was called up last fall for the 40-man roster expansion as an infielder.

All three have a chance to get a spot with the Red Sox headed into Opening Day.
