Wayne Rooney Sorry for Breaking Nine-Year-Old Boy's Wrist With Errant Shot (Video)Tickets for front-row seats should come with a warning label. Jamie Thomas learned that life lesson the hard way.

Wayne Rooney sent Thomas to the hospital on Saturday. A wayward shot taken by the Manchester United star during pregame warm-ups broke Thomas' wrist, according to the Shropshire Star.

"We were sat on the first row right at the front," Jamie's father Andy Thomas said. "The players were warming up and Rooney and [Javier] Hernandez were taking a few shots. Rooney missed one, and it was coming straight towards Jamie so he put out his hands to stop it hitting him and it broke his wrist."

It was young Jamie's first time seeing Manchester United play live, and he only caught the first half of the game. The pain became too much for nine-year-old Jamie to bear. United ended up beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 5-0 at the the Molineux.

"At first we thought it was just bruising but Jamie wasn't enjoying the game so we went to first aid. We ended up missing most of the second half," Andy continued.

"They wanted us to go to Wolverhampton hospital, but we were catching the train so we went to Shrewsbury instead. They said it was a clean break and he has to go back in a couple of weeks.

"It shook him up a bit but he’s fine about it now and I don’t think it’s put him off going to other games. I don't think Rooney realised what he had done otherwise I am sure he would have come over."

That's where the story took a strange twist. When Rooney and Manchester United learned about Thomas' plight, the United and England star set out to apologize. Rooney sent a letter and signed jersey to Thomas. He discusses it below.
