It just so happens that one of the year's biggest holidays, St. Patrick's Day, lands on the B's-Flyers March matchup. And if anyone has been in Boston for St. Paddy's Day, they know that a few Jameson and Guinness-fueled donnybrooks tend to break out.
Shawn Thornton, whose mother emigrated from Belfast, Ireland when she was a child, currently leads the NHL in fighting majors with 19. Thornton is a fan-favorite here in Boston because of his pugilistic ways as Black and Gold fans have loved their enforcers even before Gene Tunney defeated Jack Dempsey in "The Long Count Fight."
