As fun and informative as Twitter can be, it also goes down some dark, dark roads. Coyotes broadcaster and former NHL player Tyson Nash found this out the hard way.
Nash caught some people off guard with his analysis of Raffi Torres‘ questionable hit on Marian Hossa during Tuesday’s Game 3 between Phoenix and Chicago. During the broadcast, Nash initially claimed that the play was “as clean of a hit as you’re going to get.”
After further review, the hit no longer seems questionable; instead seeming downright dirty. And while Nash wishes he didn’t say what he did, the damage has already been done, as the broadcaster has since received death threats on Twitter.
“You have to love the Twitter world,” Nash told The Waddle and Silvy Show on ESPN 1000 on Wednesday. “I had a few people mentioning they’ll be meeting me for breakfast, so we’ll see how that goes.”
Nash said he told Coyotes personnel about the threats, but he’s already anxious to move on, which is understandable considering he didn’t really do much wrong other than make an inaccurate assessment at first glance.
“I mentioned it to our guy,” Nash said. “It’s fine, it’s fine. It is what it is.”
He’s right; it is what it is. But it also is what it shouldn’t be.
