The Red Sox pitching staff is in a world of hurt as of late. Boston ranks last in almost every major pitching category, and the bullpen has cost the team wins in a few games already this season.

While the present looks rather bleak, there is hope on the horizon. Daisuke Matsuzaka made his first rehab appearance of the season Monday, and a few more solid outings could land the right-hander back in the Red Sox rotation in no time.

Matsuzaka's return would open up room to move one pitcher back to the pen, and as of now the most likely candidate appears to be Daniel Bard. Bard's experience could help solidify some roles for relievers and add some serious firepower to a struggling group.
