Don Cherry Calls Raffi Torres a ‘Headhunter,’ Says He’s ‘Almost a Poster Boy on How Not to Play the Game’

Raffi Torres has seemingly become Public Enemy No. 1. across the NHL following his hit on Marian Hossa — and deservedly so.

Now, Don Cherry is sounding off, labeling Torres a "headhunter" and saying that the Phoenix forward is "almost a poster boy on how not to play the game."

There are certainly plenty of people who feel that way in the wake of Torres' cheap shot on Hossa, which resulted in a 25-game suspension for the Coyotes veteran. But when Cherry speaks, you listen — if for no other reason than you simply don't know what's going to come out of his mouth.

Torres has gained quite the reputation over the years, as his conduct on the ice always seems to be questionable, but the Hossa hit seems to have put everyone over the top. That would explain why league disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan decided to slap him with the bold 25-game ban, which marks the second longest in NHL history — Chris Simon received a 30-game suspension in 2007.

Torres will certainly be under the officials' microscope when he finally returns to action. He's already under some other microscopes, though, including Cherry's.

Check out Cherry's breakdown in the video below.
