Jamie Carragher and his LFC teammates know something about playing in semifinals and finals. These occasions put a premium on focus, composure and a little bit of luck.

The Reds appeared on American television to support one of their own last week. Carragher and company sent a good luck message to American Idol contestant Hollie Cavanaugh, according to the Metro.

Cavanaugh, 18, is in the final six of the talent competition. The Liverpool-born teenager has called America home for the last 10 years, but she remains a LFC supporter.

LFC heard she was among the club’s millions of fans around the world, so it marshaled the troops to help push her to a strong finish. She instantly recognized Carragher when he appeared on the screen.

“Hollie we hear you’re a big Liverpool fan so me and the rest of the lads wanna wish you good luck,” Carragher said in a thick Scouse accent.

Idol host Ryan Seacrest had no idea what Carragher was talking about, but Cavanaugh heard the veteran defender loud and clear. The LFC vice-captain urged her to rise to the occasion, as she looks to become a recording star.
