Marlon Byrd isn't taking any time to settle in.

The newly acquired outfielder was traded from the Chicago Cubs on Saturday and is in the starting lineup for the Red Sox on Monday night, their first game since the trade.

Byrd is batting ninth in a lineup that features the rest of the Red Sox regulars.

Mike Aviles, hitting a solid .308 this season, leads off, with Ryan Sweeney (.381) right behind.

David Ortiz — whose .436 average leads the major leagues — will bat in the five-hole.

Starting for Boston is Jon Lester, who has been up and down for the Red Sox so far this season. He went seven innings with one earned run in his first start and eight innings with three earned runs in his second outing, but against Texas last Tuesday, he was torched for seven runs through just two innings.

The Twins will have Jason Marquis on the mound. In his sole start this season, against the Yankees, Marquis went five innings and allowed four earned runs.
