There won't be any return for Nathan Horton this season after all.
The Bruins forward made news recently when he skated before practice, but the B's announced Wednesday morning that Horton will not play in the Stanley Cup playoffs this season because of a lingering concussion.
Horton, who suffered a concussion in Game 3 of last year's Stanley Cup Final, was concussed again this season during a Jan. 22 game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The winger hasn't played since, and he will end the season having played in a career-low 46 games.
Before an Aaron Rome hit cost Horton the rest of the Stanley Cup Final last season, the power forward was one of the B's most important players on their run to the team's first Cup in 39 years. Horton netted eight goals in 21 games, including three game-winners, two of which came in Game 7 wins over Montreal and Tampa Bay respectively.
