Even Zdeno Chara would have a hard time picking up this Cup.

NBC is placing a 21-foot-high, 6,600-pound Stanley Cup replica in the middle of Manhattan’s Times Square for three days beginning on Wednesday. And not only will it provide hockey fans with a unique sight, but it will serve as a water fountain.

Visitors will apparently be able to drink NYC water from specific spouts at the base of the replica Cup using reusable souvenir cups from NBC Sports/NHL. The massive fountain will also feature 12 industrial fountain pop jets in the upper bowl, which will shoot water six feet above the Cup.

All of this adds up to 120 gallons of water per minute being pumped throughout the sculpture. That’s a lot of water for all of you scoring at home.

Here’s an artist’s rendering of what the Times Square scene will look like. The photo below that is the huge Cup under construction.
