Ray Allen No More Than ‘Probable’ to Play for Celtics in Playoff Opener (Video)

BOSTON — Doc Rivers has been hopeful for weeks that Ray Allen would return before the regular season ended. With Allen out of the lineup for Thursday's season finale against the Milwaukee Bucks, that scenario is no longer possible, and a full return for Game 1 of the Celtics' first-round playoff series against the Hawks is not likely.

Rivers, using a football term, called Allen "probable" for Sunday's game. While Rivers would not expect Allen to be at 100 percent immediately, Rivers said he would play Allen as soon as Allen was healthy because the Hawks would have to respect Allen's shooting ability.

"When you put Ray on the floor, you still have to guard him," Rivers said. "So having him on the floor gives us something it gives us spacing."
