Report: Bill Parcells Certain to Remain Retired, Will Not Serve as Saints’ Interim Head Coach

The Big Easy won't be reeling in The Big Tuna.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, sources indicate that Bill Parcells will not serve as the Saints' interim head coach this season and will instead remain retired.

This comes on the heels of a report that surfaced a couple of weeks ago indicating that head coach Sean Payton approached Parcells about the possibility of taking over in New Orleans while he served a one-year suspension that was handed down as a result of the Saints' bounty program.

Payton appealed his suspension, but commissioner Roger Goodell elected to uphold the ban, while also rejecting the appeals of Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and assistant head coach Joe Vitt.

After falling to the 49ers in the NFC divisional round this past season, the Saints knew they had a big offseason on tap because of Drew Brees' contract situation. Who would have thought they'd soon have a coaching vacancy to fill as well?
