The Boston College standout has signed an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie. It’s technically a three-year deal, but because Kreider is expected to report to the Rangers on Wednesday for the playoffs, this season will count towards that deal.
The 21-year-old Kreider just wrapped up an impressive collegiate career at BC where he played three seasons with the Eagles. He recorded 23-22-45 totals in Boston College’s impressive run to a national title this season, and he also added 66 penalty minutes.
At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, the No. 19 overall pick in the 2009 draft gives the Rangers good size up front. The Boxford, Mass., is a tough player who only got stronger over his time with BC.
“I think that because I was here over the summer with the strength coach at BC was helpful and that was great in making improvements and putting on a little size and putting on some base strength,” he recently told NESN.com.
Kreider is expected to practice with the Rangers on Wednesday.
