The Celtics will be Big Three-free Sunday against the Bobcats.

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce did not accompany the team to Charlotte, Celtics radio broadcaster Sean Grande reports. Ray Allen was already expected to miss the game with swelling in his right ankle, so Celtics coach Doc Rivers will have a very thin bench.

Fortunately for the Celtics, a sparse crew may be enough against the Bobcats, who have won a league-low seven games this season. Leading scorer Corey Maggette is out for the remainder of the season with a strained right Achilles tendon, so the Bobcats' last-place offense will have even more difficulty scoring.
