Source: Gary Guyton Signs With Dolphins After Four-Year Career With PatriotsLinebacker Gary Guyton's down year in 2011 turned out to be the end of his four-season tenure with the Patriots.

Guyton agreed to a one-year deal with the Dolphins on Friday, according to a source. After the season, Guyton and the Patriots had a mutual decision to part ways.

Guyton, who went undrafted in 2008, emerged as a quality role player who performed well as a starter, particularly in 2009 and 2010. But he struggled last season and was a healthy scratch for all three of the Patriots' playoff games.

Guyton looked for a new opportunity to spark his career, and the division-rival Dolphins are familiar with his work. Plus, with a new coaching staff and a transition to a 4-3 defense, Guyton will have a chance to create his own role in Miami.
