Ted Williams played his entire Major League Baseball career in Boston.
After bringing joy and excitement to the fans in Fenway Park throughout the years, Williams’ accolades will once again thrill Red Sox fans as his personal collection is auctioned off April 28.
After Williams’ death in 2002, his daughter, Claudia Williams, began managing his estate. She recently decided to sell many of her father’s personal effects through Hunt Auctions, Inc.
The most notable pieces up for auction include Williams’ 1949 American League MVP plaque and his 1957 American League Batting Championship Silver Bat. “The Kid” won both awards during an illustrious career that included winning the Triple Crown twice and setting the mark for the best regular-season batting average at .406.
Other items on sale will be a ball signed by Babe Ruth and addressed to Williams, as well as Williams’ 1954 Red Sox jersey, worn during his first season after serving in the Korean War. Beyond the game, various pieces from Williams’ fishing collection will be up for auction alongside items from his Army days.
