Curt Schilling's 38 Studios Saga Is Latest in Former Athletes' Attempts at Business Success (Gallery)Curt Schilling‘s 38 Studios, a video game company based in Providence, had to lay off all its nearly 400 employees on Thursday.

The studio recently failed to make a loan payment to the state of Rhode Island and was unable to receive funding from private investors.

Schilling is most famous for pitching on the Boston Red Sox’ 2004 and 2007 World Series teams. He won over 200 games in his career and his outspoken ways have made him one of the most polarizing athletes, past or present. His failure with 38 Studios is a rare public miss, but not uncommon in his peer group of ex-athletes.
