Boston Bruins Honored as SportsBusiness Journal's 'Sports Team of the Year'The Boston Bruins had an impressive run over the past year, between a pair of playoff appearances and a Stanley Cup championship among others it was a successful year for the franchise. But on Wednesday the B's were recognized with another prestigious honor.

The SportsBusiness Journal named the Bruins as this year's sports team of the year, during a special ceremony in New York City. The Bruins were honored with the award for their excellence and outstanding achievements from March 1, 2011 through February 29, 2012.

The Boston Bruins were acknowledged for their 2011 Stanley Cup Championship title, as well as their involvement in numerous charitable contributions to the Greater Boston community.

A panel of writers, editors and researchers from the SportsBusiness Journal judge the entries and decide which team is most deserving of the precious honor. This year's other nominees for the award were the Dayton Dragons, Sporting Kansas City, Stewart-Haas Racing, and the Texas Rangers.
