FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported Thursday that he heard that Sheen won an auction for Lawrence Taylor's Super Bowl XXV ring. However, Glazer was quick to add that Sheen hadn't yet confirmed the news.
On Friday, Sheen issued a statement denying that he had bought the ring for $230,000 through an auction.
"As much as I would be honored to own such an important artifact," he said in a statement, according to International Business Times, "I had nothing to do with the acquisition."
Sheen has been a pretty avid collector of sports memorabilia in the past, and once bought one of Babe Ruth's World Series rings.
