Cody Ross Undergoes X-Rays After Fouling Ball Off Foot, Hoping for the Best Regarding InjuryPHILADELPHIA –– Add Cody Ross to list of injury concerns.

The Red Sox outfielder fouled a ball off the top of his left foot in the eighth inning of Friday's game, forcing him to exit early. Once Ryan Sweeney replaced him, Ross underwent X-rays in the clubhouse, and he's now awaiting the results.

"I was going to finish the at-bat," Ross said. "The only way I'm coming out of that if I was bleeding and I can't see. I went down in the tunnel and tried to run. It wasn't happening. Had to come out."

Before leaving Friday's 6-4 loss, Ross blasted his eighth homer of the season to left field at Citizens Bank Park. It was his second straight game with a long ball, and Ross is expecting to receive word on the severity of his injury on Saturday morning.

"I was wearing this huge shin guard but it didn't cover any of my foot," Ross said. "Generally I foul the ball off my shin, but this one got me perfect off the top of my foot. Hope for the best. Feels alright, so we'll see."

Ross finished 2-for-3 in the series opener against the Phillies.
