Former Patriot Max Lane Will Step Into Boxing Ring to Fight Cancer at Charity EventFormer Patriots offensive tackle Max Lane will lace up the boxing gloves for the Haymakers for Hope Rock ‘n Rumble charity boxing tournament.

The 41 year old Lane will fight 48 year old Mike Connolly in the event. Although both men are over the age of 40, they are fighting in a common interest to find a cure for cancer.

A three-year starter for Navy, Lane will fight for two reasons. He wants to stay in shape while he is retired and he, along with all the fighters involved, have gone through a four month training period to prepare for the event. Both his parents have experienced cancer and the Haymakers for Hope organization has raised over $220,000 for cancer research since Andrew Myerson and Julie Ann Kelly. founded the organization in 2009.

All twenty-six of these fighters are first-time amateurs with a common goal to step into the boxing ring and literally fight for a cure. Proceeds from the event, which begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thrusday at the House of Blues, will be donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund.

Standing room tickets are still available for $75 and for more information about the event or ticket information is available here. Jam’n 94.5’s Ramiro and DJ Pup Dawg will entertain the spectators at the House of Blue’s first hosted boxing match.
