Jarrod Saltalamacchia may have just become the latest in what is becoming a long line of injured Red Sox players.

During the fifth innning of Friday night's game in Philadelphia, Salty was struck on the ear by a Daniel Bard fastball after it glanced off batter Ty Wigginton. The ball ricocheted first off Wigginton and then Saltalamacchia's forearm before hitting him on the side of the head.

The Red Sox catcher suffered a left ear laceration on the play and was bleeding afterwards. Saltalamacchia was taken out of the game and replaced by Kelly Shoppach.
