Jenny Dell Gives Viewers a Peek Inside Her Pregame RoutineHeading into the 2012 season, Daniel Bard was making the jump from the bullpen to the rotation and said he needed to prepare a pregame routine, a necessity for some starting pitchers.

Over a month into the regular season, he’s got a routine down. Bard spends a half hour outside shagging balls during batting practice because he likes to get comfortable with the weather conditions. He then returns to the clubhouse, puts on his uniform and heads to the training room.

While getting stretched out in the training room, he listens to a playlist on his phone titled “Domination Playlist,” and then heads out to the field for the game. Bard said he likes to keep his schedule flexible and simple.

Over a month into my first season, I finally feel like I have my pregame routine down to a science:

2:30 p.m. – Leave my apartment. Drive, cab or walk to Fenway Park. (All depends on the weather and if I have a good parking spot by my place that I don’t want to give up.)

3:00 p.m.: Arrive at Fenway and head straight up to press box. Set up my laptop, check emails and talk to the pregame show producer about segments for the show.

3:30 p.m.: Clubhouse opens. Time to gather news and interview players.

4:30 p.m.: Bobby Valentine news conference. Listen, take notes and ask relevant questions.

5:00 p.m.: Meeting with the NESN production crew to discuss the night’s broadcast. I talk with my producer, associate producer and Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy about which players I interviewed in the clubhouse and the segments I am thinking about for the night.

5:30 p.m.: Dinner time: I usually bring my laptop into the media dining room and eat dinner while I look over my notes and write up my show segments.

6:30 p.m.: Run down to the field and shoot my pregame show segment.

6:45p.m.: Quick break to get ready for the game.

7:00 p.m.: Run down to my spot near the third-base dugout for game time.
