There are some qualities that may indicate a player might succeed as an executive, though. The most cerebral players and the ones who are best prepared night in and night out would seem to be best positioned to call the shots from a desk, if they so desired.
Steve Nash dipped his toe in the water when he was named general manager of Team Canada. His duties may not be very complicated compared to an NBA boss’ responsibilities, but a heady player like Nash could be positioning himself for a job in the future.
