Jon Lester's Gem Against Jake Peavy, White Sox Leads to Amica Pitcher of the Week HonorsJon Lester kicked off this week on a high note, outdueling White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy en route to a 1-0 victory for the Red Sox last Saturday.

For that, Lester is this week's Amica Pitcher of the Week.

Lester threw 122 pitches, 78 for strikes, in that outing, allowing just five hits and a walk while striking out seven Chicago hitters. Franklin Morales, Vicente Padilla and Alfredo Aceves then shut the door on the White Sox lineup over the final two innings to preserve the victory and give Lester his first win of 2012.

Lester's next start came on Friday against the Orioles, during which he put his flawless resume against the O's on the line. Ultimately, the Boston bullpen was unable to secure the victory after Lester exited, but the lefty still pitched well. He allowed three runs on five hits in six innings of work.

The performance against Baltimore didn't come close to matching his gem against the White Sox, but when taken as a whole, Lester was a bright spot in the Boston rotation this week.

After falling to the Orioles 8-2 on Saturday, the Sox have now lost four in a row, and Lester will need to keep pitching well in order for the rotation to turn things around.
