Kevin Youkilis Looks to Show Off Power Stroke Again Versus Orioles in Series FinaleEditor’s note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days.

Kevin Youkilis took the field Tuesday for the first time since April 28. He immediately made his presence felt, going deep in the fourth inning.

The Red Sox eventually fell to the Orioles, but going forward, Youkilis will look to show why his presence changes the complexion of the Boston lineup.

That’s something Red Sox fans may have forgotten during Youkilis’ absence, especially when Will Middlebrooks was playing so well in the veteran’s place. But Youkilis has undoubtedly been an important part of the Red Sox in recent years, and there’s no reason to believe he can’t be that again this season as long as he’s able to stay healthy from here on out.

Youkilis’ blast on Tuesday night was his third of the season, and his average sits at .224 heading into Wednesday’s matinee.

Here’s a look at the Red Sox and Orioles temperatures for May 23.
