BOSTON — Lars Anderson is heading back to Triple-A.
After Tuesday's 5-3 loss against the Athletics, Anderson was summoned into Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine's office. Shortly after the conversation, the first baseman and outfielder started cleaning out his locker.
The Red Sox haven't announced a corresponding move for Anderson. General manager Ben Cherington said he wouldn't offer any updates concerning Aaron Cook until Wednesday.
In two at-bats Tuesday, Anderson went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts, dropping his average to .125. Since being called up last week, he's only recorded one hit, against the Twins on April 24.
