The concept is actually quite simple. It starts with a typical international game between the Netherlands and France. But the marketing wizards at Nike show us what happens when they let a host of famous names crash the party. What follows is soccer meeting the movie 28 Days Later if the zombies were all played by stars of the present and future.
Mezut Ozil is among those leading the charge, as he tries to drive a golf cart onto the field. Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Gerard Pique, and Franck Ribery also have roles to play.
Neymar and Pato, two of Brazil’s great hopes, arrive a little late, but they soon make an impact.
As if that wasn’t enough, Nike decided to roll out its big guns. Cristiano Ronaldo decides to join in on the act at one point. LeBron James even makes a save in his brief appearance (although the three-time NBA Most Valuable Player didn’t take the field).
Laurent Blanc, Pato, and Andres Iniesta are just a few of the big names to play a role in the commercial. If it sounds too good to be true, fear not. Pep Guardiola is there taking notes on the whole thing.
