Paul Greengrass to Direct 'Barca', Documentary Film About FC BarcelonaPaul Greengrass, the director of smash-hits The Bourne Ultimatum and The Bourne Supremacy, is set to lead a project that is more than a film.

He will begin shooting Barca this summer. The documentary will give viewers an inside look at FC Barcelona during the 2012-13 season, according to the LA Times.

Greengrass will lead a star-studded team on the project. It includes author and journalist John Carlin, who wrote the book that was turned into the hit movie Invictus. They will be joined by editor Chris King, whose work on the documentary Senna earned him widespread acclaim.

The dream team will have an all-access pass to FC Barcelona, as it portrays how the club operates both on the field and off it. Much of the film will focus on the recent years, which saw the club enjoy an unprecedented run of success under manager Pep Guardiola. Barca will document the team, from its preparations for the upcoming season through its quest for trophies when competitive play begins.

“I’m excited to tell the extraordinary story of Barca and their magnificent achievements under Pep Guardiola on film,” Greengrass told Variety. “They have given the world a rare glimpse of sporting perfection, and memories that will last for as long as the game is played.”

Barca is expected to be released before the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
