Paul Williams, Boxer Known as 'The Punisher,' Paralyzed in Motorcycle CrashNone of Paul Williams' opponents have or ever will be this tough.

Williams, a former two-time WBO welterweight champion, was involved in a serious motorcyle crash near Atlanta, according to the boxer's promoter, Dan Goossen. The 30-year-old, known as "The Punisher," reportedly is suffering from paralysis as a result of the crash.

"From the waist down, he has absolutely no movement," Williams' trainer and manager, George Peterson, told The Associated Press. "He's in very good spirits, though. He still believes he's going to fight again."

The accident reportedly occurred on Sunday morning, just before Williams was to attend his brother's wedding that afternoon. According to Peterson, Williams tried to avoid an oncoming car, at which point he was thrown from his motorcycle, falling on his back and head and severing his spinal cord.

Doctors have said that Williams will not walk again, and he is currently listed in serious but stable condition, according to USA Today. However, the news isn't detering the spirits of Williams, who is set to undergo surgery on Wednesday.

"I know he's going to make a statement after surgery on Wednesday, because he's that kind of person," Peterson told The Associated Press. "He's 100 percent coherent and still has the will to want to get back on the motorcycle."

Williams, one of the sport's most well-respected fighters, was scheduled to fight Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on Sept. 15 in Las Vegas, but that event has been canceled, according to Peterson.
