Aaron Cook made his much anticipated Red Sox debut on Saturday, and Daisuke Matsuzaka is inching closer and closer to a return to the big leagues.
While this is good news for the state of the Red Sox, it also leaves the team with some questions to answer. Suddenly, there's a log jam in the rotation, which will require someone to head to the bullpen.
The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo thinks Daniel Bard should ultimately head back to the pen once Matsuzaka returns. And while Cook could continue to receive starts, Pete Abraham finds it hard to imagine Boston going with a six-man rotation for any significant length of time, as that would likely entail taking starts away from Josh Beckett and Jon Lester.
