Scott Podsednik has been on a tear since being called up to the Red Sox on May 22. The 36-year-old outfielder, who was traded to Boston from Philadelphia earlier in the month, is 7-for-15 in six games with the Red Sox.

The veteran is being rewarded for his success with the Sox, as he’ll start in center field and is in the leadoff spot on Thursday for the series finale against Detroit. Daniel Nava, who has led off the past two games, will get the start in left field and hit second.

Adrian Gonzalez heads back to his normal spot at first base and Ryan Sweeney is back in the lineup in right field, after getting a night off on Wednesday.

The Boston bats will be tested, though, as Tigers’ starter Max Scherzer (4-3, 5.67) takes the mound. Scherzer will look to feed off the success of his past two outings, in which the 27-year-old right-hander has struck out 24 batters in 12 1/3 innings.

Josh Beckett (4-4, 4.15) will take the hill for the Sox, looking to keep up his recent pitching success with a fourth-straight quality start.
