Sergio Aguero Says Argentina Must 'Win Anywhere', Form Solid Group for World Cup QualifiersSergio Aguero, who returned to Argentina to train in Ezeiza for its game against Ecuador on June 2 at River Plate’s stadium, said the national team is “not playing well.”

Referring to recent games in 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (loss to Venezuela, tie at home to Bolivia), ‘Kun’ Aguero said, “we must be realistic, the national team is not playing well. And we have to pull this off.

“The Argentina team has to win anywhere,” added Aguero.

Argentina now has seven points in the qualifiers — like Uruguay (with a game in hand) and Venezuela. It will host Ecuador on Saturday June 2, at the Monumental stadium. It will have little time to rest before traveling to New Jersey to face Brazil in a friendly on June 9.

“Hopefully, everything we do in our club we can repeat in the national team,” Aguero said. “Luckily with the players, in the two weeks we train, we will quickly understand because we know.”

“Play one minute or 90, I am very happy just being in the national team. What is important is that the team wins,” he added.

On his incredible goal that gave the Premier League title to Manchester City and its relevance in England, Aguero said he finished the season, “in the best way. Until the last five minutes I thought we lost the title, but we were lucky. For me, the more Argentines have in City, the better. With Carlos [Tevez], we yield very well together in the club.”

Meanwhile, Maximiliano Rodriguez, another player who joined the practice today in Ezeiza, said, “I have the same energy as in my first call-up. Most important is to form a solid group, because if the group is well results come alone.”

The Liverpool FC midfielder added, “this date gives you a little room to work and these concentrations are very important for coexistence, but after that you have to reflect on the field.”

Rodriguez and Aguero were among six players who joined selected practices at the site of Ezeiza. Also present were Gonzalo Higuain, Angel Di Maria, Ezequiel Garay and Federico Fernandez. Thus, head coach Alejandro Sabella had 10 players — Fernando Gago, Marcos Rojo, Jose Sosa and Pablo Zabaleta already trained — to work with a selective scheme.

In the coming days, expected to arrive are the other eight foreign players that were also cited. They are Ezequiel Lavezzi, Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano, Hugo Campagnaro, Pablo Guinazu, Matias Rodriguez and Sergio Romero, who will join those from the domestic league.
