Soccer Player Heroically Stands Up to Hooligans and Prevents Riot (Video)With a wag of a finger and some stern words, Gabor Babos did what dozens of security guards could not. He stopped a large group of irate fans from storming the field following a Dutch soccer game.

Babos, the veteran goalkeeper of NEC Nijmegen was doing a post-game interview on live television after his team’s loss to Vitesse Arnhem. He noticed a group of NEC fans trying to tear down a barricade and rush the field, so he sprang to action.

He ran to the corner of stadium where the away fans were situated, brushed aside a handful of security staff and faced down the angry mob. The 37-year-old convinced the mob that causing trouble was not in the best interest of the club, and cooler heads prevailed.

Former NBA star Dikembe Mutombo used to wave his finger after blocking shots so opponents wouldn’t come into his house. The four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year would be probably be proud at the effectiveness of Gabor’s finger wag.

See Babos’ profile in courage in the video below.
