But it appears that the 23-year-old third baseman may be carving out a permanent spot in Boston.

Kevin Youkilis, the Red Sox’ everyday third baseman for the past seven seasons, is still anticipated to be the starter when he returns from lingering stiffness in his back. But with Middlebrooks tearing up major league pitching to kick off his big league career, Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine and the front office may have quite the quandy on their hands.
